How the packing guide works +

Each item is represented by its displayed rectangular bounding box. The guide tests up to six axis-aligned orientations at candidate corners, checks for overlap and enforces compartment boundaries. The result is a bounded heuristic, not proof of an optimal arrangement. Rounded pockets, compression, garment flexibility and weight balance are not simulated. Remaining space is empty modeled volume; one large object may still not fit.

Changing pack size keeps existing positions where possible and repacks the others. Anything that cannot fit is returned to your kit with an explanation. Nominal 12 L and 18 L here equal the sum of the authored compartment boxes.
